Best TV for the Money, July 11, 2012
    Amazon Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
This review is from: TCL LE43FHDF3300TA 43-Inch 1080p LED HDTV with 2-Year Limited Warranty (Black) (Electronics)

I was skeptical at first when I saw the price and brand. I normally only purchase Panny, LG, or Samsung. But after some research I found out that TCL commonly orders its panels from samsung suppliers. After I pulled the trigger and bought the TV (arrived next day for additional 3 bucks thanks to prime!) I held my breath. Worst case scenario, I was going to be returning it.

the TCL 43inch arrived in a TCL cardboard box that didn’t bring too much attention to itself (good for in-city shipping). I pulled it out and plugged it in to check for backlight bleeds, etc. Not only could I NOT find any blemishes or bleeding, but I couldn’t find any substantial light leak – was this truly a great purchase??

I threw the TCL on it’s stand (took a little finicking but what do you expect) and plugged in my ps3. I threw in my blue ray of Avatar and skipped around to get an idea of its color and black level performance. I was thoroughly impressed. I didn’t have to do much picture adjustment and it looked like a TV worth a grand.

Aesthetics: the TCL has a very very small bezel around the edge – giving you the impression that the screen is floating and expensive. It looks wonderful against a wall and in the middle of a room. Oh, and by the way, if you purchase an LG or Samsung you have to deal with an obnoxious on/off light and branding on the bottom frame, the TCL brand is tiny and there isn’t a running light (just a small red off light – much like NEC). Its just simple. And that makes it gorgeous.

    Pros:
    – Value is a key factor here, 43” screen is a lot of real-estate and with 1080p, it can double as a monitor.
    – In addition, the looks of the TV gives the impression that its worth a lot more than what you paid.
    – Lets not forget that panel either, the black levels are great (not perfect) and the colors are vibrant – BluRays and HD video look like they should – great!
    – Several times while skipping through some footage I literally said “wow.”
    – I work at a post production house and we all have IPS deep color professional monitors for color correction, and I can honestly say this panel is a steal.
    – HDMI ports (2) are very accessible (side mount plugs)
    – Lots of ports (PC, HDMI, Composite/ponent, USB, 1/8” audio)

    Cons:
    – Stand is not a tilt or pan – just holds it up.
    – Remote is a bit cheap (it didn’t bother me, but some people…)
    – Speakers are ‘meh’
( but you don’t buy a 400 dollar TV for the audio experience…buy a damn audio system!)
    – not much else…

    Bottom Line:
    – If you are looking for a great LED 1080p 43” TV… you found it.
    – Its just a TV, no 3d…no apps… but that’s the whole point – it does it’s job, and it does it well.

I’ll be updating soon with some pictures and possibly a video review. As long as this TV holds up, I think TCL will be a great solution for a lot of people, and they need to know that.

    Awesome TV, July 26, 2012

    Amazon Verified Purchase(What’s this?)

First of all, when you buy anything, you assume that the cheaper the item, the lower the quality. This is not the case. I bought the 39″ version and could not be happier. just a heads up, i bought this TV to use for my computer and xbox360 only.

    Pros:
    -Very slick design
-Amazing 1080p, watching blu-ray movies is a treat, everything is clear
-Extremely cheap for the specs, will no find another TV for same price with same specs.

    Cons:
-Sound sucks. But hey! it’s a television! made for viewing, not listening.
-Stand does not spin and is made of glass.. yikes, careful not to break it. However it looks really nice.
-Not too many picture adjustable options

    !!!!!!INFORMATIVE FACTS!!!!!!!!!!
-In case you didnt do your research and is skeptical about buying this TV, it is a chinese manufacturer, that uses SAMSUNG screens in their TVs. The reason they are so cheap, is because they have a really good screen and no super duper features. If you need something to display movies and such, this is perfect.
-If you are going to use this TV as a monitor, BUY IT!, People are not aware that if they try to buy a 120hz tv, it will be useless with their computer, as computers output at 60hz. In fact, a 120hz is actually lagging with a PC. Personally, if you ask me, watching a movie with 120hz just looks weird. It is only useful if watching sports. This TV gives the best movie experience.
-I fixed the lame sound quality by purchasing logitech LS21 speakers 2.1. I gotta say, that it sounds absolutely amazing. Unless you are one of those weirdos that listens specifically to get some crazy ass sound, get those speakers and plug em in. Problem solved. No need to spend $$$$ on a home theater system.

    XBOX!:
For some reason my games looked pretty bad when i started playing them. Heads up!: adjust the sharpness of the TV to about 25% so it’s is not as sharp. The best auto setting to be on is “cinematic” if you do not like fiddling with the TV.

PC!: for me, I am using a HDMI to DVI cable from my graphics card but for some reason it doesnt auto detect the TV on boot. (on ATI graphics cards). EDIT: just found the solution. Set your graphics card software to scan for TVs on startup.

Overall: This is a pretty awesome TV, especially for the price.

    Best TV We’ve owned, June 6, 2012

Daily I hear my husband say how incredibly clear and detailed the picture is. When first turned on, the screen was too dark; we easily found and adjusted the settings and now the picture is crystal clear. The volume is good as well. It readily hooked up with TiVo and did not require an extra box for cable connection. It has an earphone outlet in the side back. We are happy about that, as that is fairly important to us, when one wants to sleep and the other wants to watch TV. It is a little inconvenient to reach around to the back to insert the jack, though it is on the side_ish, so not as bad as all the way in the back. Over all this is the best TV we have owned so far and it is priced so low!
