These are so light you forget you are wearing them. They are much more comfortable than previous generations. The most improved thing however is that they really do reduce the amount of flicker (and resulting eyestrain) seen when watching Blu-ray 3D content. I never understood why Sony’s 3D TVs suffer from this issue so much more than other brands, but these glasses help a great deal. If you have a Sony set, these are worth it.

The Best Sony 3D glasses so far, April 22, 2012

Sony did a great job creating 3D glasses, which are light and bright, made without sacrificing the quality of 1080p active 3D technology. These glasses gives us the clarity of the passive 3D without losing any quality on the 3D images. The only complaint I have is that if you tilt your head, you lose the 3D image. I think Sony should solve this problem as solved in the creation of the Playstation 3-D glasses, but the quality and performance of the titanium Sony 3D glasses are amazing. I repeat: the best Sony 3D glasses so far. A perfect purchase. Impossible to regret buying. It sometimes seems that they perform much better in 3D pop-up scenes. I loved the glasses. Sometimes you forget you are wearing them because they really are weightless.

    Rather disappointing, June 27, 2012

I already had some pairs of the 2nd generation BLACK Sony 3D glasses … and having read the raving reviews here on Amazon, decided to try these new Titanium 3rd generation 3D glasses. Unfortunately, my experience with them has been rather disappointing:

    1. The titanium glasses are much lighter, but all the weight is concentrated on the front … so the weight on your nose is much the same as before. The previous BLACK glasses spread the weight around much more evenly.

    2. The titanium glasses have a frameless design … this might look cooler … but in practise it is nowhere near as good for watching. On the Titanium glasses, the glass LCD panels are too small, so that when you watch with them with their frameless design, one is far more aware of surrounding imagery … i.e. what is happening in the rest of the room … than with the BLACK glasses which frame off (or black out) what is happening on the periphery far more effectively.

    3. I wear normal glasses all the time: the BLACK 3D glasses work far better with my everyday glasses than the titanium set do.

    4. Both sets have an ON/OFF button on the glasses … when watching a 3D movie, this is quite useful to re-set the glasses … if the sync goes out. On the BLACK glasses, the ON/OFF button is conveniently and ergonomically placed on the top side of the glasses, so you can reset the glasses while you are wearing them, just by moving your hand and pressing the button. On the Titanium glasses, the button is located on the inside of the glasses, near your nose … so you have to take off the glasses to re-set … that is a bad design.

    5. But most importantly, I thought the image quality was far better on the BLACK set than on the newer Titaniums. The titaniums seem more blurry … more out of focus. I got a headache within 1 minute of putting the titaniums on watching Hugo 3D, and I have had no problems watching the same movie with the BLACK glasses. I carefully compared using both pairs, and consider the BLACK set to be vastly better in almost every respect.

In summary: I was expecting something better by buying the titaniums. Instead, I received a substantially inferior product to the second generation BLACK design. If I need another 3D set in future, I will simply buy another BLACK pair.
